Job Description:

The University of Florida Division of General Internal Medicine seeks a general internal medicine physician investigator to lead and grow research focused on quality improvement, health services research, or medical education. Candidates should have a track record of conducting independent research, including evidence of attracting extramural funding. We are especially interested in candidates with the ability and interest in mentoring and collaborating with clinician-educators in research projects. Successful candidates will provide patient care and teach medical students and residents.

The Division of General Internal Medicine comprises 40 faculty members and advanced practitioners who provide comprehensive adult care at over 50,000 ambulatory visits and 10,000 hospital encounters annually. There are three modern and highly resourced outpatient practices, and each uses the same electronic health record system as our hospitals. Faculty care for a personal panel of patients and teach medical students and residents in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.

The Department of Medicine is a national leader in multiple subspecialty areas. UF Health is one of the Southeast’s most comprehensive academic health centers and includes UF Health Shands. This 1000-bed quaternary referral hospital ranks among the top 50 hospitals in the US News & World Report Survey in 7 adult specialties. The University of Florida Health Science Center has a unique constellation of six health colleges and nine centers and institutes located on a single campus. The University of Florida ranks among the Top 10 public research universities and includes substantial resources to support teaching, research, and collaboration. The University of Florida Health Science Center features one of only 2 Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) hubs in Florida. The CTSI features a Training and Research Academy for Clinical and Translational Science for early-career faculty seeking to develop research skills and pursue careers as clinical investigators. The Gainesville, Florida region has an inexpensive cost of living, nationally-ranked public middle and high schools, and superb weather with multiple year-round recreational opportunities, including biking, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and cave diving.

Applicants must be board-certified or board eligible and eligible for a Florida Medical License. The annual salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and education.

Rank and Tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications.
