Salary:£51,946 - £68,603 depending on skills and experience + excellent company benefits

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours | Flexible Working options available

What is the Role?

SSE is transforming the way it delivers value from data and is implementing an Analytics Platform to help execute on that vision.

As a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer / Technical Lead you'll be working within the Data and Analytics team to manage platform capability and work with a team to deliver new capability, enhancements and deal with day-to-day operational matters.

What do I need?

As well as excellent experience and a deep understanding of Microsoft Azure, you'll demonstrate excellent technical leadership and mentoring skills alongside the ability to lead on technical matters and become the focal point for advice, guidance and appropriate decision making.

With the need to have high levels of automation and re-use then adopting infrastructure as code principles is an important goal of the team. You should therefore have a good level of hands-on experience in this area. Given that the team are responsible for standing up and supporting data related capabilities then experience with associated resources in an Azure context (e.g. SQL Database, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Tableau etc.) is advantageous.

We're looking for you to have very good ability and experience in:

- Advising, and applying best practice, around integral aspects of Azure such as security, monitoring, configuration, costing etc.

- Ensuring the quality of deliverables through appropriate validation and test procedures

- Use of Azure DevOps as a primary tool for work item tracking, repositories etc.

- Automation; the use of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates for automated deployments

- Practical scripting skills (PowerShell) for automation and configuration tasks

- Monitoring, cost management and other related Azure activities
