Job Description:

The Role:

As part of Royal Hobart Hospital’s Perioperative team, provide an efficient and effective support service to the main Operating Theatre Suite, the Perioperative Unit, and the Day Procedure Unit, including Day Surgery and Endoscopy.

The TSO Team:

The TSO team is specially trained to support the patients and staff in the operating theatre suite. They are an essential component for the delivery of surgical services to patients in the care of Perioperative Services.

Details of Appointment

Multiple, permanent, full time and part time, shift work positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

Multiple, fixed term, full time and part time, shift work positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for 12 months

Please note that casual vacancies are also available from this selection process

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary: $59,694 to $63,154 pro-rata per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.


Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Holds or is working towards a Certificate III or IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support through a nationally accredited training provider.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
