Research Practitioners

The Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation are seeking highly skilled and experienced Research Practitioners (PhD or equivalent), to undertake specialist investigation and evaluation resulting in research outcomes and published evidence related to service implementation, clinical interventions, workforce development for child and adolescent mental health services or other mental health service innovation.

These positions may be assigned to undertake specific research programs/initiatives including (but not limited to):

The Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation is a joint Department of Health (DoH)/University of Tasmania (UTAS) research agency which is currently hosted by Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within DoH.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2023. Please note fixed term, part-time arrangements will also be considered.

Salary:

$111,672 to $118,949 per annum + 10.5% superannuation

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $724 per annum for the ability to accrue fund up to five years

• Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or
  2. Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
  3. Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  4. Current Working with Children Registration.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Current Driver’s Licence
  2. Completion, or progression towards the completion, of a postgraduate research qualification or equivalent relevant to the position
  3. Expertise in the design and conduct of research and evaluation and holds a publication record/published research experience

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. Crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check

  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
