Job Description:

The Close Observation Unit (COU) at the Mersey Community Hospital is seeking both Junior and Senior ANUM's to join our team.

The Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:

The Close Observation Unit (COU) at the Mersey Community Hospital is a 6 bed Level 2 COU, providing high acuity/acute care services to the North West region of Tasmania.

The general case mix of patients may include: sepsis and single organ failure, DKA, gastro/general/ENT post-operative patients, unstable angina/AMI, cardiac failure / APO / arrythmia management, respiratory failure, non-invasive ventilation - BIPAP/CPAP and metabolic and respiratory acidosis management.

COU, MCH has the capability of providing advanced non-invasive haemodynamic monitoring, some vasopressor support and provides a rapid response (MET/CODE BLUE nurse team leader) service to the hospital. The nursing ratio is a 1:3 to 1:1 depending on acuity of the patients.

The successful applicant must hold current ARC ALS/ILS1 or equivalent and have experience managing MET/CODE BLUE calls.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full and part time, shift work positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing 8 January 2023.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary: $94,491 - $99,870 per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging


Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
