Education/Training Specialist II

Job Description:

- Communicate and act as a liaison between University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory (HBREL) faculty, staff, and honey bee stakeholders

- Explore and implement novel ways of distributing bee-related information to a diverse clientele group.

- Consult with faculty on instructional needs and/or learning/training technology.

- Collaborate with instructional designers, faculty, or subject matter experts on program development and design.

- Provide one-on-one coaching for individuals or groups on topics related to the business of beekeeping, marketing and creation of value-added products.

- Schedule and plan steering committee meetings, advisory board meetings and all team meetings at frequency established in the communication management plan; develop action items.

- Lead new initiatives and serve as a liaison between Florida beekeepers and UF/IFAS researchers and specialists.

- Answer honey bee-related phone calls and emails.

- Program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation

- Develop and assess extension programs, using surveys, interviews, or focus groups.

- Design, develop, and deliver training programs, applying best practice models and learning theory related to the business of beekeeping, marketing and creation of value-added products.

- Evaluate training effectiveness and achievement of learning outcomes and recommend changes or adjustments as needed.

- Develop program or course budgets and monitor expenditures.

- Create educational/extension materials for beekeepers

- Coordinate the creation and dissemination of training materials for beekeeping business planning, value-added product development, digital marketing, and apiary operations and safety.

- Track extension reporting data

- Track extension material usage information and develop evaluation tools that can be used to assess the impact of the materials.

- Manage and contribute to HBREL social media content

Expected Salary:


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in event planning is preferred.

• Excellent customer service and ability to problem solve and work independently needed.

• Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and Canvas by Instructure, or similar software and learning management systems.

• Good verbal and writing skills: able to develop project management plans and communication management plans with the ability to have exceptional time management

• Communication skills: ability to communicate across workstreams, university administration, and various beekeeping related stakeholders

• Attention to detail

• Proactive and perceptive

• Team player

• Knowledge of honey bees and/or beekeeping is preferred, but not required.

• Knowledge of business, marketing, and accounting or economics is preferred, but not required.
