Job Description:

The APS-III in Geomatics will be responsible for matters related to the Geomatics Program under the supervision of the Geomatics faculty at GCREC. The position necessitates advising potential students, responding to phone calls and email inquiries from potential students, organizing and conducting recruitment activities, writing and editing content for program proposals, grants, publications, and other program activities. The APS-III in Geomatics will assist the GCREC-PC Geomatics faculty in conducting research and education activities, writing research proposals, supporting research projects, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing the results

The APS-III in Geomatics will teach the Geomatics labs for local students at the GCREC-PC and instruct Geomatics courses to statewide students as needed. The APS-III will support the Geomatics faculty at GCREC-PC and statewide in instructing and administering Geomatics courses and laboratories at the GCREC-PC. The APS-III in Geomatics will develop and administer teaching and recruitment programs. The APS-III in Geomatics will work with the SFFGS Program Assistants on maintaining the Geomatics undergraduate and graduate curriculums and recruitment activities.

The APS-III in Geomatics will develop and implement recruitment events in the Central Florida region and track the outcomes of these activities. The APS-III in Geomatics will organize/coordinate meetings with the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society and other Geomatics and STEM organizations. The APS-III in Geomatics will be responsible for updating and improving Geomatics website and social media pages for recruitment and program promotion efforts. The APS-III in Geomatics will advise the Geomatics students of university policies and curriculum requirements and advise potential students of admission requirements and guide them through the admissions process.

The APS-III in Geomatics will make purchasing recommendations. The APS-III in Geomatics will develop and maintain an inventory tracking system and contact appropriate personnel for any property inventory issues and concerns. The APS-III in Geomatics will coordinate with the GCREC IT personnel, the SFFGS IT personnel, and the Geomatics faculty in ensuring that the most current versions of software programs are installed in the computer laboratory at the GCREC-PC. Other duties as assigned.

The position requires the person to work independently and with minimal supervision. The Geomatics faculty member at the GCREC will assign tasks and define priorities. The direct supervisor is the Geomatics faculty member at the GCREC. The person will supervise hourly-employees hired to support the GCREC-PC program.

The APS-III in Geomatics is required to work with the faculty and staff at the GCREC to ensure that all policies and guidelines of the unit are followed and will demonstrate a commitment to contributing to a respectful and caring community for all, including individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientation, and perspectives.

Frequent communication with faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and local state college academic advisors. Occasional communication with the general public and the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society.

Expected Salary:

$60,000- $67,000 annually.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The APS-III must demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, remote sensing, digital photogrammetry and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) analysis software. The position requires leadership and positive attitude necessary for using new software and technology. Preference will be given to candidates with previous recruitment, teaching and/or research support experience. Preference will be given to candidates with Professional Surveyor and Mapper certification in Florida.
