Job Description:

This End User Computing Specialist II position is located in Orlando, Florida at UF's Lake Nona Campus. Under the direction of the UF Pharmacy IT Department, this position provides 1 tier technical IT/AV assistance to lecturers, facilitators, and student organizations on the Lake Nona campus. This individual will be working with a team of professionals in an academic and research environment.

Duties include:

Technical Assistance/Support

  • Provide technical assistance for facilitators, guest lecturers and student organizations meeting on campus.
  • Assist with special events or requests including but not limited to: Computer and AV requirements.
  • Maintain and support multiple rooms with integrated AV and Computer systems. Administer and configure presets for lighting and shading controls for various rooms as needed.
  • Computer Technical support for staff, faculty, and lab users within the College of Pharmacy and the UFRAC Facility. Includes, but not limited to, the Lake Nona Campus. Provide maintenance and support for desktops, laptops, lab equipment, printers, and various mobile devices running Windows, MacOS, Android, or iOS.
  • In lieu of main campus’ UF Help Desk, provides 1st level technical support for students on the Lake Nona campus including, but not limited to, WIFI connection troubleshooting. Should understand and be able to trouble shoot Examsoft and Lockdown Browser software packages.
  • Working knowledge of web conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Audio Visual Technical Support

  • Support and maintenance which includes but is not limited to: computer support, audio/video setups, microphones/sound, camera control, VTC setups, lighting and shades. Responsible for the maintenance of AV systems for classrooms, conference rooms, lobby areas, and the auditorium.
  • Familiar with use of Classroom AV Technology including, but not limited to, Crestron systems, QSC Q-SYS, Vaddio, etc.
  • Continually research new and existing AV products to find solutions that best meet the needs of our collaborative environments. Obtain quotes for AV gear from various suppliers.
  • Coordinate with various vendors that come onsite for repairs.
  • Provide AV support for special events.
  • Preferred: Familiar with programming AV control systems and audio DSPs including but not limited to Crestron, QSC Q-SYS, and Biamp.
  • Preferred: Experience in designing and installation of AV system upgrades such as zoom room conversions and replacements of faulty equipment.

Recording/TBL Classroom/Video Support

  • Assist and monitor conferencing setups and connections in any of the Zoom Rooms in the Lake Nona Campus. Includes assistance, moderation, and coordination with live lectures, organizational presentations and team-based learning sessions (Academic classroom sessions). Should be familiar Zoom, Zoom Rooms, & VTC Codecs.
  • Schedule, record and edit recordings. This includes coordinating with the Gainesville video production team, local and distance faculty as well as special lecturers for various groups and projects. Must be flexible to accommodate customer’s needs within reason. Must work well individually and with a team to get collaborations and special projects successfully captured. Must be familiar with Adobe Premiere pro, Adobe Photoshop and VMIX software.
  • Must be capable of coordinating and controlling various camera and microphones simultaneously while working in a small space. Will be responsible for watching several camera feeds to avoid issues during video presence sessions. Must be capable of using Crestron software/hardware and a Joystick to follow and zoom in on camera. Must be able to troubleshoot under pressure and communicate effectively during a live class session.

Computer Equipment Maintenance/Repair

  • Tasked with reimaging desktops and laptops based on the operating system needed for the designed role of the device. Handles any repairs for computers, both within and outside of warranty period. Works with 3rd party vendors (i.e. Dell) on any warranty repairs/replacements.
  • Maintain inventory of all Computer Related equipment as well as AV systems. Includes any laptops, wireless presenters, projectors, etc. requested for temporary checkout.
Expected Salary:

Up to $22.51 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Skilled and working knowledge of PC and Mac hardware platforms and software OS.
  • Skilled and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled and working knowledge of conferencing software: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Blue Jeans.
  • Familiar with Polycom and Cisco video conference codecs.
  • Familiar with common classroom AV technology, wiring, and connection types.
  • Programming experience for AV control systems and audio DSPs such as Crestron, QSC Q-SYS, ETC Mosaic, Biamp.
  • Experience editing video with Adobe Premiere.
  • Experience providing AV support for live events.
  • Advanced level of problem-solving skills.
  • Advance level of interpersonal skills.
