Job Description:

This position is involved in all aspects of the teaching and research unit operation, including but not limited to, feeding milk, grain, and water, cleaning, sanitizing, handling and health observations of animals at the facility. It is critical that the employee be adept at following written and oral instructions as directed by supervisor, research and facility standard operating procedures and protocols. This position may at times require flexible hours.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Administering calves milk, feed, and water according to procedures to meet experimental needs and nutrient requirements. Keeping calves clean, dry, and adequately bedded. Monitoring individual calf health and informing supervisor or herd veterinarian of any illness observed. Cleaning, sanitizing and setting up calf buildings and hutches as needed. Moving and vaccinating calves.

- Post weaning of animals; making sure feed is accessible to animals in pen and cleaning of water troughs for all pens.

- Keeping facilities and equipment maintained and cleaned.

- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Expected Salary:

$14.50 per hour.

Minimum Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience with Dairy Cattle.
