You may have heard that the Department of Communities Tasmania will be disbanded by 30 September 2022. Please be assured that the services that Communities Tasmania provides to the Tasmanian public will be ongoing and dispersed between existing Tasmanian Government agencies and a new Housing Tasmania statutory authority. Any advertised roles and contracts will be honoured in line with current Tasmanian State Service legislation.

**This position currently with Department of Communities Tasmania will be transferred to the new Department of Education, Children and Young People**

About the Team

Children, Youth and Families (CYF) provides integrated programs that support all children, young people, and their families in Tasmania. Youth Justice Services includes Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC) in Deloraine which provides 24-hour residential youth justice services.

We work in collaboration, using trauma informed practice, to maximise a young person’s potential and participation on return to the community.

We are looking for applicants with work-life experience, who may have worked in other disciplines, or want a career-change to give back to young people.

Essential Requirements

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

*Suitable applicants will be required to undergo psychological testing prior to interview and consent to an independent medical assessment to confirm their suitability for this role.

Desirable Requirements: Current first aid certificate; current Driver’s licence; Knowledge and expertise consistent with qualifications recognised at Certificate IV or above as relevant to Youth Work, Youth Justice or Correctional Practice/Administration
