JCU is inviting applications from eligible candidates for PhD scholarships under the schemes, Research Training Program (RTP) and James Cook University Postgraduate Research Stipends (JCUPRS).

The College of Science and Engineering is one of the 6 Colleges of JCU and is the home of JCU's expertise in the Information Technology and Computer Science, Marine Biology, Zoology, Aquaculture, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Geology, Environmental Science and Management to form a strong grouping uniquely placed to tackle the grand challenges facing the world, both fundamental research and applications.

Information Technology and Computer Science at JCU - Today, it is difficult to think of any part of society that is not impacted by Information Technology and Computer Science. At JCU, we conduct research in the the development and implementation of new computing paradigms, networking technology, and hardware and software systems. Information Technology is vital to enable innovation, communication and growth throughout our rapidly changing world. College of Science and Engineering is inviting applications for PhD Scholarships from both domestic and international students in any of the following Information Technology and Computer Science research areas:
PhD Scholarships are also available in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)

Value and benefits Eligibility
Applicants must have one of the following:Selection for scholarships is based on academic performance, paid/unpaid professional experience and published/accepted peer reviewed publications. Only the top-ranked applicants in a scholarship round will be offered the Scholarship.
If your native language is not English you are required to demonstrate your English language proficiency (Band 2 or higher).

Applications for 2023 Scholarship close on 30 September 2022. Applicants can apply for candidature only (without scholarship) at any time during the year

How to apply
  1. Establish contact with IT staff at JCU to discuss potential PhD topics and supervision. Also directly send your CV and trascripts to a suitable advisor for further discussion, and please find more details through How to Apply.
  2. Once a topic and supervisory panel are decided, complete APP-FORM-01 Higher Degree by Research Application Form together and ensure that you have the required documentation ready.
  3. Go to the Doctor of Philosophy (Information Technology) course page and hit 'Apply Now' to go to the online application under 'My Course Applications.'
