Job Description: | Facilitate therapeutic testing in animal models of human disease Work with the laboratory team to administer therapeutic treatments to rodent models of striated muscle disease. Assist in mouse colony management and physiological assessments of muscle function and therapeutic efficacy. Perform precise excision of tissues for preparation of histological and biochemical analyses. Learn and utilize existing protocols and develop new protocols to accomplish these tasks, as required for addressing experimental queries. Laboratory wet-lab procedures Independently conduct biochemical, molecular, and cellular assays, including extraction of DNA, RNA, and protein from biological samples for genotyping, PCR, qPCR, and Western Blot analysis, performing PCR reactions, Western blotting, and ELISA assays, and isolate and culture cells to be used in experiments. Histological procedures and image analysis Perform procedures related to histological analyses of tissue, including cryosectioning, staining, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and image analysis. Data analysis, reporting, scientific writing, and dissemination Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations; assist in preparing data for scientific manuscripts, abstracts, grants, and other documents; manage accurate and complete laboratory research records and prepares daily written reports of experimental results; assists laboratory research with searches for and review of scientific literature relevant to the research focus of the laboratory. Aid in the development of new research and laboratory protocols. |
Expected Salary: | $13 - $17 per hour |
