LGH is a major regional hospital of over 300 beds with 34 paediatric and 13 neonatal beds. Registrars have exposure to many complex patients requiring multidisciplinary care with excellent supervisor support. The hospital has three RACP Basic trainees, and 3 advanced trainees in general paediatrics and or community paediatrics. Launceston is a well serviced regional city with excellent access to the arts, good food, wine and coffee, and close to many excellent national parks, beaches and MTB trails.

For those interested in applying for the training program after term 4, the information below is provided.

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the major paediatric and neonatal referral service, as well as the major university teaching hospital for the state of Tasmania. Research is actively encouraged and supported through links with the University of Tasmania and the Menzies Research Institute. Financial support is available for conference leave. The Department of Paediatrics is managed by a team of Staff and VMO Specialists in Neonatology, Neonatal and Paediatric Emergency Transport, Paediatric Intensive Care, Oncology, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Developmental Paediatrics, Community Paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery, Child Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine and General Paediatrics.
