Energy Dispatch Engineer
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday, will consider flexible work options
Over the past year Fortescue Energy Operations have been building a dedicated Strategic Planning team to undertake all energy modelling, forecasting, analysis, and reporting across Fortescue. The scope of the team is for the short, medium and long term horizons.
The Energy Dispatch Engineer will have the opportunity to work with multiple teams to deliver economical dispatching plans across multiple planning horizons. This role will also support the operations by delivering insights to achieve optimisations.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Develop and maintain systems, processes and data that are integral to the energy dispatch model.
- Manage the dispatch planning process.
- Conduct a full energy model dispatch through PLEXOS.
- Analyse and communicate insights in a clear and concise manner to multiple stakeholders.
- Responsible for producing a weekly and daily energy dispatch plan with outputs for multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Knowledge of electrical generation and distribution network operating procedures and practices
- Tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting/Economic/Engineering desirable with +3 years of energy dispatching experience or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and operate PLEXOS software. Proficiency with Bablefish, Snoflake, Tableau or similar programs is desirable. And advanced Microsoft Excel skills is essential.
- Ability to interpret and manipulate complex data
- Able to manage deliverable to deadlines.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with high attention to detail
