Role Title: Technical Engineering Lead
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
As a member of the Engineering team, the Technical Engineering Lead is responsible for developing and managing internal technical inputs and interfaces across project(s). You will be responsible for the effective communication and exchange of information across a number of stakeholder groups to ensure the technical aspects of the project(s) are delivered in a timely manner as per the project requirements.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Work with the Studies team to understand project needs, critical drivers for success and key technical needs through study phases.
- Support Engineering Management to assign the appropriate resources to the team at the start of each phase
- Coordinate project technical assurance (by engineering) and represent the engineering group in wider project discussions and assist in managing expectations.
- Manage effective 2-way communications between Studies Team and Engineering. Ensure appropriate project team communications are established and maintained
- Manage engineering group activities to ensure timely, comprehensive functional engineering engagement to support project needs
- Effective management of interfaces between the Engineering group disciplines to share knowledge, identify gaps and collaborate to find solutions that support the FFI project and organisational level targets
- Effective management of engineering team response to changing Project priorities
- Provide input to Scope of Works developed and owned by Project/Study Manager. Lead the engineering team in identifying outsourced technical scopes, developing technical sections of the Scope of Work and deliverables lists.
- Coordinate engineering input to the Technical Bid Evaluation process, including review of technical scopes and management plans to ensure all service provider contract requirements are met.
- Provide ongoing technical support and coordination of engineering input into the management of clarifications, TQs and scope changes.
- Support the Engineering Management team in the identification and execution of process improvement initiatives to drive continuous improvement of engineering technical assurance at FFI.
- Engagement with the wider technical group to share knowledge, identify gaps and collaborate to find solutions that support the FFI organisational level targets.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualification in engineering (Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, or Process) with a minimum of 10 years experience.
- Experience in concept studies, feasibility studies, FEED, engineering and interface management.
- Project experience managing $100m packages across one of the following sectors: power generation, oil and gas, mining or major infrastructure projects.
- Ideally, experience of working for a client-side firm or a main Tier 1 consultancy or contractor
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills with high competency in the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent project teams.
- A strong capability to adapt to multidisciplinary requirements, in particular communicating a range of Engineering concepts to a range of expertise.
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.
- Strong team skills management and willingness to travel for short periods.
