Role Title: Renewable Energy Engineer
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
The role of the Renewable Energy Engineer is to support the Wind and Solar PV Power Plant Engineering team in undertaking engineering tasks related to Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) global Wind and Solar PV Energy Projects under evaluation, development, construction, and operation.
This role’s key accountabilities in line with the organisation’s strategic targets and objectives, are listed below and may change at any time to suit business needs.
Key accountabilities will include:
Wind Power Project Engineering and Design
- Site identification
- Resource monitoring coordination and preliminary data assessment
- Technology pre-selection and suitability assessment
- Preliminary wind power plant array design
- Generation forecast
- Environmental impact assessments (e.g., noise emission, shadow flicker)
- Undertake operational plant and equipment performance analysis.
- Support ongoing review and optimization of wind engineering procedures, standards, specifications, and processes
Solar PV Power Project Engineering and Design
- Site identification
- Resource monitoring coordination and preliminary data assessment
- Technology pre-selection and suitability assessment
- Preliminary solar PV array design
- Preliminary system modelling
- Generation and generation profile forecast
- Support ongoing review and optimization of Solar PV engineering procedures, standards, specifications, and processes
Technical services to FFI’s wind and solar PV energy projects:
- Balance of plant – support engineering functions (e.g., Civil, Electrical & Structural)
- Legislation and regulatory compliance,
- Risk assessment and mitigation
- Due diligence of Wind and Solar PV projects for acquisition
- Equipment / services scope of works and technical specifications
- Equipment / services procurement
General
- Acting as senior engineering expert for solar PV and wind turbine technology and plant design
- Managing and developing direct reporting engineering professionals
- Support ongoing improvement of FFI internal engineering standards and procedures in relation to all relevant aspects of the development, construction, and operation.
- Provide value-adding engineering support to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Develop relationships with and regularly liaise with consultants, service provider and equipment manufacturers.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary Engineering Qualification (preferred Renewable Energy, Energy or Electrical)
3+ years in wind and solar PV power plant engineering and design
In depth knowledge of appropriate engineering software, generation technology, project evaluation and industry best practise plant design methodologies.
Essential language skills: fluent in English
High level evaluation and analysis skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
