Manufacturing Program Manager - Wind
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Manufacturing Program Manager - Wind will be responsible for the make versus buy decision, and the end-to-end establishment and leadership of wind manufacturing from design, development and supply chain through to installation and commissioning to meet FFI and FMG wind project demands.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Leads the program team, establishes the project execution approach and oversees project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals
- Defines, jointly with relevant department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule, and risk management plans
- Establishing make versus buy reports and business plans on the manufacturing of selected plans
- Establishing partnerships with OEMs to develop, build, install and commission to meet FFI project demands
- Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and FFI /Fortescue Metals Group Ltd policies
- Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilisation
- Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow
- Identifies, qualifies, quantifies, and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued
- Captures, analyses and shares lessons learned throughout the project
- Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed
- Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer
- Planning & management of the Commercial wind manufacturing and test projects from 10MW to multiple GW scale
- Project status monitoring and reporting, budgeting and resource management within budget and scope
- Develop and maintain project plans and schedules and identifying areas for improvement
- Monitor progress of works and projects to ensure that milestones and performance indicators are met, preparation of reports as required
- Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with FFI policies and contractual agreements.
- Coordinates with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures all required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers.
- Supports Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes
- Acts as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders
- Implements Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and business compliance standards providing a safe working environment, and continuous improvement in HSE process and integrity performance.
Ensure Installation safety requirements are developed and met in projects and manufacturing (HSE) - Leading a team, providing coaching, mentoring, feedback and opportunities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Undergraduate engineering degree plus an MBA or Project Management qualification
- Substantial experience in solar, hydropower, wind or other power generation sectors
- Five years or greater in a Senior Project Manager / Management position
- Ten years delivering large, complex and multi discipline projects
- Committed to Workplace health and safety
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and build effective relationships at all levels
- Strategic planning and project management skills with an understanding of budget administration
- Well-developed leadership, coaching and facilitation skills
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Skilled in problem solving rapidly
