Laboratory Technician III

Job Description:

General laboratory and field work

Establishing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating laboratory and field procedures.

Performing field and laboratory research activities.

Recording observations and measurements and reporting results.

Working closely with mosquitoes and other arthropods of medical importance.

Data management and analysis

Managing resulting data from field and laboratory work.

Performing computational data analyses.

Formatting and mapping large georeferenced data sets.

Maintaining data visualization dashboards.

Expected Salary:$16.19 per hour.
Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a scientific field, preferably biology with some experience in at least one or more of the following disciplines or skills: entomology and/or virology, ecology, data science. Experience working with mosquitoes or other insect colonies, geographic information systems (ArcGIS or QGIS) and/or R or python programming languages is welcome. Knowledge of basic laboratory skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are vital, as are computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
