Job Description:

The PR/Marketing Student Employee will create social media content and promotional materials to promote the Diverse BookFinder (DBF), which is currently a database of multicultural picture books, as well as an expansion of the online database to include multicultural middle grade and young adult books. The expansion of the DBF is a grant project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The main responsibility of the PR/Marketing Student Employee will be to create social media posts for Instagram on average three times per week and at least one story on Instagram each week with the goal to increase our communication channels and our audience. The posts will be mirrored on the DBF Facebook page. The PR/Marketing Student Employee will also be assisting with expanding the Diverse BookFinder’s presence onto TikTok with the goal to post two or three times per week. Additionally, the PR/Marketing Student Employee will occasionally create promotional materials that will be sent to professional organizations, schools, and other outlets and may collaborate with grant team members to analyze online outreach data and analytics.

Hours: 10 hours/week

Expected Salary:

$15/hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

  • Experience in creating promotional content and working with social media platforms TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, detail-oriented, capable of working independently, punctual and reliable.
  • Video editing skills, especially within TikTok and/or Instagram REELs.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience being on camera, preferred.
