Job Description:

The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is opening a 40,000 sq foot newly built hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC), a high profile 300-acre equine facility in Ocala, 30 minutes south of Gainesville. UF Veterinary Hospitals at WEC provides Equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services and Small Animal primary care and urgent care services.

A Veterinary Technician based in Equine services at the UFVH at WEC, assist clinicians with examinations, treatments, anesthesia, clinical procedures, advanced imaging, and hospitalization nursing care. An individual in this position must possess horse handling skills and experience and enjoy learning new things.

Available Shifts:
Day and evening shifts are available. May require working holidays and weekends.
This position is considered essential personnel and requires a post-offer health assessment.

Expected Salary:

$18.00 – $25.00 per hour; Competitive salary based on credentialing and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Veterinary Technician I:
High School Diploma; two (2) years of work experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or one (1) years of work experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital. Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician preferred.

Veterinary Technician II:
High School Diploma and four (4) years’ work experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or two (2) years’ work experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital; and certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

Credentialed veterinary technician.

Experience in equine diagnostic imaging.

Experience in performing equine anesthesia.

Previous experience utilizing equine rehabilitation equipment.
