Job Description:

The Role:

Carry out a range of duties associated with maintaining food preparation, service and waste management areas in a clean hygienic state within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

The Hospital/Area/Team:

Kitchen Hand work consists primarily of cleaning and rubbish removal tasks such as:

Previous hospitality and/or cleaning experience desirable

The Launceston General Hospital Production Kitchen operates Monday to Friday including public holidays

Kitchen Hands generally work shifts between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm, with occasional shifts working 3:30pm to 11:00pm

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, casual, shift work position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for 12 months.
The successful applicant may also cover leave requirements for up to 76 hours per fortnight as required.

Salary: $50,529 - $52,636 per annum (pro rata) + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible


The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty

  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
