Senior Energy Analyst
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday, will consider flexible work options
Over the past year Fortescue Energy Operations have been building a dedicated Strategic Planning team to undertake all energy modelling, forecasting, analysis, and reporting across Fortescue. The scope of the team is for the short, medium and long term horizons.
The Senior Energy Analyst will collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the business to deliver key analytical insights in the planning and forecasting process for the long-term horizon which includes decarbonisation of our Pilbara operations. This role will support the strategy function of the team.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Collaboratively engage with stakeholders across the business.
- Model energy requirements for stationary power reflecting the decarbonisation requirements.
- Conduct financial modelling for stationary power energy requirements.
- Provide energy assumptions and estimations for the purpose of supporting the studies and projects teams.
- Collaborate with the Senior Energy Modelling Specialist to conduct long term scenario analysis on the capital and operational requirements and provide insightful presentations on modelling outputs to the business.
- Other ad hoc tasks as required to support the Strategic Planning function.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualified in Finance/Accounting/Engineering with +5 years’ experience in a similar role within the energy sector. Renewables experience is desired.
- Strong analytical ability and able to communicate insights clearly and concisely
- In-depth understanding of the energy economic principles
- Highly skilled in manipulating data with advanced problem-solving and business analysis techniques
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop and maintain different models as well as being able to draw insights from models and clearly communicate.
- Comfortable managing several modelling workstreams simultaneously, and to re-prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft excel experience essential. Advanced data analytics experience in SQL or Python is advantageous. PLEXOS capability desired.
