Job Description:The Stabler Laboratory within the J Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering and the UF Diabetes Institute at the University of Florida is seeking a mindful and dedicated person to join our translational and multidisciplinary research team as an OPS full-time Lab Technician. The research in the Stabler Diabetes Tissue Engineering Laboratory is distinguished by its integration of engineering, biomaterials, and cellular therapy in a highly translational manner. The OPS full-time Lab Technician will conduct biomedical research in this interdisciplinary space by carrying out experiments using molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques. Work will also include surgical, testing, and pre/post-operative care of research animals (rodents). The incumbent will further assist in the maintenance of laboratory equipment, space, and supplies, and ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is working properly. Supervision and guidance from both the PI and laboratory manager will be provided, as well as training on specialized techniques and equipment. Expected Salary:

$15 - $20 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of related experience or a high school diploma and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related field
  • Laboratory experience relevant to job duties, including cellular and/or molecular biology, animal research, and/or biotechnology. Experience in data collection, analysis, and basic statistical methods
