Manufacturing Photovoltaic Systems Engineer
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
FFI’s Solar Manufacturing team innovates in the solar space to create new solar products for the production of green hydrogen on a global scale.
Reporting to the Solar Program Manager, this role will be responsible for designing innovative new PV systems products and for managing and delivering projects with the integration of solar products into test beds and utility-scale solar farms.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Assist the Solar Manufacturing team in designing innovative new PV systems products suitable for GW-scale projects
- Use your systems engineering knowledge to design solar test beds, outdoor laboratories, cable runs and inverter configurations for various solar manufacturing projects
- Design various new exciting solar products
- Assist the Engineering and Projects teams with expertise required for utility-scale projects
- Manage and deliver projects integrating products into projects
- Analyse, evaluate, advise and verify various solar technologies for suitability, development and use
- Help to define the strategy for FFI’s procurement, investment, or manufacture of various solar technologies to best achieve FFI’s goals as the major manufacturer of green hydrogen and other products
- Help develop, acquire or partner in innovative solar technology solutions for use in FFI's value chain from solar panels to inverters and cables
- Conduct a detailed business case analysis for the manufacture of PV systems products in Australia, including a fully vertically integrated supply chain review of local or internationally available products
- Help to optimise PV systems production ramp and energy yield of completed generation assets
- Work with other Renewable Energy Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify synergistic combinations of renewable power generation and storage with Solar to optimise FFI generation project outputs for firm power
- Optimise DC and AC photovoltaic systems designs to improve cost and performance
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Photovoltaics Engineering or other energy systems background
- Certification in Project Management
- Other professional qualifications in installation, wiring, system design, or other relevant field desirable
- Minimum 5 years experienced in PV systems engineering and designing utility scale or rooftop systems
- Minimum 3 years in project management from planning to delivery
- Enthusiastic and entrepreneurial spirit in creating new and unique ideas and strategies
- Proven extensive knowledge of string and central inverters and connections and PV system block design
- Strong knowledge of status quo but creative and open minded enough to determine how things could be done differently
- Strong analytical abilities and proactive thinking
- Proven abilities in formulating and successfully delivering sprint-style strategies to drive value-add
- Clear and concise communicator
