The Integration & Data Solution Architect role is responsible for the design and architecture of the systems-to-system interfaces, dataflows, APIs, integration related data solutions and integration middleware. This includes the implementation of new core integration and data requirements as well as supporting projects using the integration & data platform.
This role will be instrumental in shaping the design of integration services to transform how applications and digital services connect and share information. A understanding of integration and data architecture principles and practices will ensure the appropriate selection and adherence to design patterns, while sound technical expertise will ensure a robust, effective, and scalable implementation.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Ensure solutions designed are aligned toward the UNSW IT standard integration and data platforms based on Microsoft technology stack.
- Analyse specified requirements and architectures to design appropriate objects and methods to implement specified functional and non-functional requirements.
- Guide developers and coordinate with internal organisational units (e.g. Architecture, Service Management, Application owners) as well as suppliers during implementation.
- Lead and execute the Architectural & Security governance processes for new solution designs (such as Architecture Working Group, Architecture Review Board, Cybersecurity Assessment)
- Lead the collaborative creation and iteration of viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.
- Document the integration architecture of business applications.
- Design Web Service interfaces, and implement integration logic (orchestration, transformation) in the Microsoft Azure Platform.
- Design Entity Definitions and Diagrams, Data Models and data solutions that relate to integration requirements
- Define integration standards and guide developers on how to use the integration platform.
- Recommend and design structures and tools for systems which meet business needs and takes into account the target environment, performance and security requirements as well as existing systems.
- Deliver technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers.
- Translate logical designs into physical designs and produce detailed design documentation.
Skills
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline together with 7+ years’ experience in software development using Cloud & architectures and middleware components.
- Experience designing and implementing solutions using Azure integration services (API Management Gateway, Event Grid, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Function Apps) as well as Azure data platform (Data Factory, SQL, Synapse, Data Lake, Databricks, PowerBI)
- Experience with applying a diverse array of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns (e.g. API, ESB, ETL) in the appropriate settings
- Demonstrated capability as an integration specialist using Microsoft Azure platform covering App Services, Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus , Azure Data factory, MS SQL, Data Lake and Data Bricks.
- Experience with Planning, designing, and deploying Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS deployments, migrations, network, and security frameworks.
- Experience defining and managing an integration design practice including integration patterns, register, and system integration landscape diagrams
- API development using REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, Web service
- Strong understanding of application and API security and privacy controls
- Experience with Dev Ops and CI/CD tools.
- A sound knowledge of system integration methods, products, tools, development life cycle and the impact of integrated solutions on it.
