Role Title: Principal Civil Engineer
Work Location: The Woodlands, Houston
Roster: Monday to Friday
Summary:
This role will join the Engineering Team to provide comprehensive civil engineering services for the full project lifecycle from feasibility through to construction phase.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Manage, design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
- Provide technical direction for the civil engineering team in road design, earthworks, stormwater drainage, water and sewer reticulation
- Develop assessment and management of risk throughout engineering project life cycles including operational assets
- Build strong relationships with local and international stakeholders
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Develop technical and feasibility studies and development of concept drawings that satisfy technical requirements
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
- Management of contractors and sub-contractors, including the preparation of Scope of Works, tender evaluation, award and execution of tender packages for various stages of project study, design and project execution
- Resolution of technical and design issues
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
- Tracking progress and performance against agreed specific and strategic KPI’s for the team and contractors
- Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, from an accredited university.
- Professional engineering registration preferred
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role preferably in the renewable energy sector, large complex civil infrastructure projects (roads, aviation, ports, rail or mining/industrial)
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent projects teams
- Applied knowledge of roads (incl access and haul roads), stormwater drainage (incl stormwater management strategies), earthworks, sewer and water reticulation design
- Experience writing Basis of Design, Technical Specifications, Scopes of Work and completing front end infrastructure feasibility multi criteria analysis
- A critical appreciation of the risk assessment and management process on projects, including communication of risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong awareness in the development of project schedules and considerations of regulatory approvals
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular communicating a range of engineering concepts to a range of expertise
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills
- Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short periods
- Experience and willingness to mentor and coach the team engineers to foster a high performing work environment
- Coordinate civil resources within the team to respond to project demands to ensure capability and capacity to deliver.
