Role Title: Principal Port & Marine Engineer
Work Location: The Woodlands, Houston
Summary:
Unique opportunity for an experienced port and marine engineer to join a global leader in the development of clean renewable energy. The position would suit a forward-thinking professional wishing to lever their diverse project experiences within our dynamic and innovative client owner environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and design support across a broad portfolio of domestic and international major projects. Project experience in one or more of the following is essential; metocean engineering, maritime structures, mooring, coastal protection and management, subsea pipeline, shipping, navigation, dredging, trenching and reclamation.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Provide support to technical and feasibility studies; developed both internally and by external consultants
- Liaise with, and coordination of, port and marine engineering consultants in support of desktop studies, site investigations and characterization, port design elements of major power and green energy developments
- Undertake preliminary planning and feasibility studies, data review for gap analysis, prepare a Basis of Design, study reports and performance specification documents
- Assess appropriate port infrastructure solutions, including inputs to project optioneering, and define risk mitigation solutions for the company’s assets
- Manage port and marine engineering related risks throughout the project life cycle from inception, through design and into construction
- Scoping inputs to complex marine site investigations and subsequent interpretation of results
- Manage, supervise, and conduct site visits and condition assessments
- Review consultants’ feasibility and detailed designs and where necessary challenge these to drive down cost and reduce schedule.
- Provide support to FFI’s engineering innovation initiatives.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Significant relevant engineering experience in marine and port structures
- A solid background in port and marine engineering with exposure to a variety of projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in marine engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
- Professional engineering registration preferred
- Expert of relevant US design standards, codes and guidelines and contemporary technical port, marine, offshore mooring and coastal engineering issues
- Experience in the design and delivery of port and marine infrastructure projects, such as moorings, wharves, jetties, seawalls, breakwaters, water intakes/outlets, bulk terminals, aids to navigation, dredging works and coastal management,
- Experience with/ exposure to port and marine logistics
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent projects teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrates initiative and takes a proactive approach to tasks.
