Title: Principal Battery Systems – Green Fleet Development
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the green fleet development Engineering Manager, we are presently looking for an experienced Battery Technology Principal
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead and coordinate the development of battery energy storage solutions for multiple HME assets including haul trucks, excavators and ancillary equipment
- Capable of prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
- Providing technical guidance to the project management team with all Battery Technology related works being carried out
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
- Resolution of technical and design issues
- Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
- Provide guidance regarding project budget, cash flow and schedule for existing and future projects
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
- Providing regular updates to the Engineering Manager including work progress, risks and priorities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience and comfortable to work in the capacity of a subject matter expert
- Experience with mobile electric equipment (electric vehicles, electric mobile mining equipment and others)
- Experience with Computer Aided Design systems
- A passion for coaching and mentoring qualified engineers
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
- High commitment to safety
- Experience with SAP work management
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
- Experience in participating / coordinating in the purchasing tender process
- Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
- Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible and accountable
- Skilled in problem solving rapidly
