Job Description:

This position analyzes current and future customer product needs in the communication services area.

The incumbent troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex telecom problems. They help to ensure effective problem resolution by acting as a liaison with vendors, contractors, service providers, CSRs, and UC Engineers during trouble determination, evaluation, and resolution.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Provide service provisioning and programming for telecommunications services for UF using Cisco Call Manager for Voice over IP (VoIP) and Cisco Unity for voicemail
  • Train customers on the use of all telecommunication services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve telephone and line outages
  • Provide maintenance and repair of the extensive emergency telephone installations (Blue Light Emergency Phones) on campus

Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

An associate's degree and two years of appropriate experience or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. CCNA Certification or equivalent must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.

Must have a valid FL driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • CCNA certification and/or equivalent certifications
  • Physical networking principles and their application
  • UFIT Telecommunications standards familiarity
  • Exemplary communication skills
