Job Description:

Multisystemic Therapy (MST ®) Practitioner(s) – Multiple Vacancies – CAMHS are seeking dynamic and passionate MST Practitioners to deliver the first ever MST program in Tasmania, as part of our extensive service innovation. MST is an innovative, evidence-based program that empowers young people involved in offending and antisocial behaviour and their families build the skills to achieve positive, long-term changes and improved life outcomes. The MST Practitioners will have the drive, enthusiasm, knowledge and skills to deliver MST to young people with severe and complex mental health challenges and their families, working as part of a small team. They will be committed to continuous improvement and share CAMHS’s vision of providing quality, accessible, consumer-centred mental health care to some of Tasmania’ s most vulnerable children and young people. The Role:
- Deliver clinical services, including assessments, problem conceptualisation, planning and treatment, to a small caseload of young people with complex needs, working primarily through their families and caregivers.
- Adhere to the MST intervention model, establishing intensive client contact and intervention with individuals and families and working with relevant personnel from other services or agencies.
- Conduct assessments of young people and the systems that impact them, including family, peers, school and community, to identify risks and strengths and develop therapeutic interventions.
- Identify barriers to pro-social activities and engage family/caregivers and other key participants in change-oriented treatment to resolve or reduce these barriers and achieve lasting behavioural change.

Position Features:
- Highly mobile, non-clinic based, with flexible hours of operation.
- Participation in an oncall roster is a requirement.
- Some intrastate travel is required.
Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, day work (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Location:
Mental Health Services – North West
Base Salary: $96,689 to $114,391 per annum + 10% superannuation
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $105,245 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- Salary range is in accordance withAllied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $724 per annum for the ability to accrue fund up to five years
- Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
- Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Social Work or related field, or working towards a postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
- Experience in therapeutic approaches consistent with MST including cognitive and behavioural therapy, family system treatment and ecological approaches including cognitive and behavioural therapy, family system treatment and ecological approaches.
- Experience/expertise in child and adolescent mental health and/or Child Development.
- Knowledge of contemporary juvenile and criminal justice issues.
- Experience implementing evidence-based programs.
