About the Role
This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to use your fundraising expertise and stakeholder engagement experience to secure philanthropic gifts for an organisation with a true global impact - The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (Doherty Institute).

As Head of Philanthropy, you will have responsibility for securing philanthropic gifts from individuals, charitable trusts, foundations and corporations. Working independently and collaboratively within a complex environment, you will execute high impact philanthropic outcomes by managing relationships with current and prospective donors. As an experienced fundraiser with capital campaign management expertise, you will lead a team and work with a personal portfolio of 60-90 current and prospective donors to secure principal and major gifts over $250,000.
Through strategic and analytical thinking, flexibility and a human-centred approach, you will secure complex multi-year gifts in order to meet annual income targets as well as multi-year campaign targets – ultimately contributing to scientific discoveries at the cutting edge of research.

About You
As a confident communicator with a high EQ, you have the ability to negotiate and influence decision making at a senior level to generate buy-in and commitment to change agendas. Navigating a complex, multi-layered environment, you utilise your excellent interpersonal skills to build positive and effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

You will be passionate aboutmedical research or public health and have a keen interest in science. Ideally, you will even have knowledge of/experience working in fundraising in the medical research sector.
