Senior Storage Engineer

Role: <\/strong>Senior Storage Engineer<\/p>

Work Location: <\/strong>Perth<\/p>

Roster: <\/strong>Monday to Friday<\/p>

FFI is currently looking for an experienced Energy Storage Engineer to work our global energy development projects.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Some international travel would be required for this role.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Key accountabilities will include:<\/strong><\/p>

• Understanding the inputs required for FFI\u2019s Energy projects and the role energy storage will play in securing reliability<\/li>
• Review technical aspects of related to energy storage - with a willingness to support the team on other technologies, as necessary with understanding of many types of energy storage BESS, electrical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal.<\/li>
• Contribute to internal training efforts about energy storage technologies and applications \u2013 existing and emerging<\/li>
• Coordination with the power generation team (i.e.: Wind\/Solar PV\/Mechanical\/Electrical\/Process engineering etc.).<\/li>
• Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes.<\/li>
• Lead PHA studies and participate in other safety related studies<\/li>
• Prepare inspection, test and quality documentation<\/li>
• Manage project documentation<\/li>
• Coordination with other parts of the overall projects with emphasis on boundaries, energy availability, electrical transmission, and systems interaction.<\/li>
• Coordination and testing with energy storage component suppliers.<\/li>
• Resolution of technical and design issues using internal and\/or external resources.<\/li>
• Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects.<\/li>
• Tracking progress and performance against agreed specific and strategic KPI\u2019s for the team, consultants and contractors.<\/li>
• Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers.<\/li>
• Proactively deliver on the company\u2019s stretch targets.<\/li><\/ul>

  Qualifications and skills required:<\/strong><\/p>

  • Bachelor\u2019s Degree in engineering or similar.<\/li>
  • Technical skills, management skills and experience in energy storage projects<\/li>
  • 5- 10-years experience in an engineering role with demonstrated experience in effective study and project execution, in energy storage related development.<\/li>
  • Demonstrated understanding of current energy storage issues including energy storage applications and use cases; energy storage component technology; integration of conventional or renewable generation with energy storage; and valuation of energy storage in various applications.<\/li>
  • Good understanding of other source of renewable energy characteristics (i.e.: solar PV, solar CSP, wind, geothermal).<\/li>
  • Demonstratable experience in key aspects of Energy storage development, design and delivery.<\/li>
  • A critical appreciation of the risk assessment and management process, including communication of risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders.<\/li>
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>
  • Strong awareness in the development of project schedules and considerations of regulatory approvals.<\/li>
  • A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular communicating a range of engineering concepts to a range of expertise.<\/li>
  • Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.<\/li>
  • Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short periods.<\/li>
  • A flexible mind with good team and mentoring skills.<\/li>
  • Sound knowledge of engineering and project management techniques, processes and tools, including MS Project and all Microsoft Office products.<\/li>
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.<\/li>
  • Good written and interpersonal skills.<\/li>
  • Leadership skills.<\/li>
  • Second language proficiency may be an asset.<\/li><\/ul>
