Role: Senior Storage Engineer
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
FFI is currently looking for an experienced Energy Storage Engineer to work our global energy development projects.
Some international travel would be required for this role.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Understanding the inputs required for FFI’s Energy projects and the role energy storage will play in securing reliability
- Review technical aspects of related to energy storage - with a willingness to support the team on other technologies, as necessary with understanding of many types of energy storage BESS, electrical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal.
- Contribute to internal training efforts about energy storage technologies and applications – existing and emerging
- Coordination with the power generation team (i.e.: Wind/Solar PV/Mechanical/Electrical/Process engineering etc.).
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes.
- Lead PHA studies and participate in other safety related studies
- Prepare inspection, test and quality documentation
- Manage project documentation
- Coordination with other parts of the overall projects with emphasis on boundaries, energy availability, electrical transmission, and systems interaction.
- Coordination and testing with energy storage component suppliers.
- Resolution of technical and design issues using internal and/or external resources.
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects.
- Tracking progress and performance against agreed specific and strategic KPI’s for the team, consultants and contractors.
- Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers.
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar.
- Technical skills, management skills and experience in energy storage projects
- 5- 10-years experience in an engineering role with demonstrated experience in effective study and project execution, in energy storage related development.
- Demonstrated understanding of current energy storage issues including energy storage applications and use cases; energy storage component technology; integration of conventional or renewable generation with energy storage; and valuation of energy storage in various applications.
- Good understanding of other source of renewable energy characteristics (i.e.: solar PV, solar CSP, wind, geothermal).
- Demonstratable experience in key aspects of Energy storage development, design and delivery.
- A critical appreciation of the risk assessment and management process, including communication of risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong awareness in the development of project schedules and considerations of regulatory approvals.
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular communicating a range of engineering concepts to a range of expertise.
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.
- Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short periods.
- A flexible mind with good team and mentoring skills.
- Sound knowledge of engineering and project management techniques, processes and tools, including MS Project and all Microsoft Office products.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
- Good written and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills.
- Second language proficiency may be an asset.
