Job Description:

Typical laboratory duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Organize and maintain inventories in the lab, order and organize lab supplies, etc.
  • Preparation of bacteriological media
  • Grow, store and organize a bacterial collection
  • Perform experiments in the greenhouse/growth chamber
  • Perform basic molecular biological techniques (DNA extraction, PCRs)
Expected Salary:

$8.56 - $11.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

• Excellent organizational skills, initiative, attention to detail, ability to write correspondence and reports required
• Interests in relevant topics (e.g. plant pathology, phytobacteriology, sustainable agriculture, molecular biology)

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology and cell science, plant science or related fields preferred but not required
