An experienced Concentrating solar power Project Engineer is required to work on large Solar Thermal developments for Fortescue worldwide.
Occasional overseas travel would be expected including visits to remote locations
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive coordination and management services, leading the operational preparedness of Concentrating Solar Power facilities.
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets.
- Understanding the inputs required for Concentrating Solar Power development and progress required inputs.
- Develop operational specifications to meet project specific objectives.
- Coordinate technical and operational studies.
- Coordination with the Concentrating Solar power team and other disciplines (i.e.: Wind/Solar PV/Mechanical/Electrical/Process engineering etc.).
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes.
- Lead PHA studies and participate in other safety related studies as the CSP subject matter expert
- Bring specialist engineering capabilities to related fields of commissioning for major Solar projects
- Manage commissioning staff at site.
- Maintain commissioning program to ensure commissioning activities are scheduled
- Assist with construction / design issue resolution and quality control ensuring that mechanical installation is in accordance with overall installation design philosophy
- Prepare inspection, test and quality documentation
- Manage project documentation
- Interface coordination with other parts of the overall projects with emphasis on boundaries, energy availability, electrical transmission, and systems interaction.
- Coordination and testing with CSP component suppliers.
- Resolution of technical and design issues using internal and/or external resources.
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects.
- Delivering to schedule and budget.
- Tracking progress and performance against agreed specific and strategic KPI’s for the team, consultants and contractors.
- Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Technical skills, management skills and experience in CSP development, commissioning and Operations are prime requirements.
- High level communication and influencing skills – working closely with senior leaders
- Good understanding of other source of renewable energy characteristics (i.e.: solar PV, wind, geothermal).
- Demonstrable experience in key aspects of CSP development, design and delivery.
- A critical appreciation of the risk assessment and management process, including communication of risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong awareness in the development of project schedules and considerations of regulatory approvals.
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular communicating a range of engineering concepts to a range of expertise.
- Degree qualified in a relevant Geothermal discipline and/or project management
