Job Description:

The Department of Animal Sciences' Equine Sciences Center is seeking an Agriculture Assistant II. This position is multipurpose in that it incorporates repair and maintenance of farm equipment, maintain records of equipment maintenance, building fence, mowing, spraying, weed eating, baling hay and assisting with the care of horses and beef cattle.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Performing the repair and maintenance of farm equipment such as tractors, lawn mowers, trucks and small engines. Assisting with inventory of equipment for asset management.

- Performing facility maintenance including minor repairs to buildings, building new fence and repair of old fence.

- Assisting with the production of quality hay for both equine and beef animals. Hay production includes spraying for weeds, applying fertilizer, cutting hay, baling hay and moving hay bales

- Assist in the feeding and daily care of both horses and cattle located at ESC facilities.

Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse student and community populations.

Expected Salary:

$16.77 - $19.16 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic mechanic skills

Be comfortable around horses and cattle
