Supervisor Earthworks
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth
An opportunity currently exists for an Earthwork Supervisor to join the Resource Definition team to assist the Reverse Circulation, Water Well and Diamond Drilling teams in the safe execution of their drill programs.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Promote and foster a positive and safety culture within the Drilling and Earthworks team through visible field leadership and adherence to FMG policies and procedures
- Preserve the indigenous heritage and culture by maintaining high standards of awareness within the team
- Ensure high mechanical availability of earthworks fleet through effective maintenance regimes and stock procurement
- Comply with Fortescue site specific HSES and OH&S policies, work instructions, procedures and reporting protocols. Review and update these documents on a regular basis.
- Manage the safe daily earthwork operation to deliver hazard free drill pads, sumps, bunds and tracks for the RC, WW and Diamond drilling teams
- Effective management and development of earthworks team by providing mentoring, supporting training and allocation of daily tasks.
- Fulfill responsibilities of a supervisor role (workplace inspections, ensuring a safe workplace and verification of works etc)
- Work closely with the drilling team to schedule manpower and equipment to meet requirements of their scopes and adhere to changing drill plans
- Manage Time Usage of each asset to understand time losses in the operations environment and manage scheduled / unscheduled maintenance
Qualifications and skills required:
- Previous Supervision of earthmoving plant and equipment required, in Pilbara preferably
- 7 years or more working in earthmoving related fields, preferably civil or mineral exploration, however open cut mining is also beneficial
- Previous experience working within and understanding of adherence to ground disturbance permits (internal and regulatory) is desirable
- High level of communication and team leadership
- Class C manual WA driver’s licence
- Any Earthmoving licenses and VOC’s
- Current first aid
- Operate and maintain a 4WD
- Strong skills in computing. Ability to effectively use MS Office suite required, experience in using machine guidance systems desirable.
