Senior Mine Planning Engineer - Projects
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join our Long-Term Planning Team. Reporting to the Principal 5 Year Planning Engineer, this role is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing process improvement projects for FMG 5 year mine planning, as well as delivering critical mine designs to facilitate success of 5 Year mine plans and Mining Proposal submissions.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Endeavour to improve current 5 year plan process and long-term design process with new technology and innovation
- Undertake ad hoc data analysis work to discover useful information for business decision-making
- Coordinate planning system development work with FMG software developers and relevant stakeholders
- Produce and deliver long term mine designs to facilitate 5-year plan and mining proposal submission for all FMG operational sites
- Conduct 5 Year mine plan and associated deliverables
- Support the development of junior and graduate engineers
- Site travel as required
Qualifications and skills required:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining or similar)
- Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably within iron ore
- Medium to long-term planning and scheduling and mine design knowledge
- Strong analytical skills
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiative
- Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to provide high quality work
- Computer proficiency (ATS, & Vulcan)
