Design Engineer

Work Location: Iron Bridge

Roster: 8:6

The role is a special opportunity to shape the operation of major project, working an 8/6 roster at the Iron Bridge site. This would suit a mining professional who is looking for a diverse, challenging and engaging role. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be involved in engaging and aligning stakeholders across the business, detailed designs for operations, project work and development of design processes. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving and team work.

    Key accountabilities will include:<\/strong><\/p>

    • Produce and\/or review designs for operational execution, scheduling and projects<\/li>
    • Support long term planning with designs and design reviews<\/li>
    • Work collaboratively with drill & blast, operations and geotechnical teams on designs and projects<\/li>
    • Cross-train and full-fill other mine planning functions as required<\/li>
    • Work collaboratively with stakeholders including geo-metallurgy, heritage, environment, mine geology, mine operations, and processing<\/li>
    • Attend and meaningfully contribute to planning and operations meetings<\/li>
    • Be actively involved in safety and risk including hazards reporting and safety investigations<\/li>
    • Contribute to ongoing site improvement initiatives and projects<\/li>
    • Contribute to design processes, procedures and QAQC systems<\/li><\/ul>

      Qualifications and skills required:<\/strong><\/p>

      • Ability to work effectively unsupervised<\/li>
      • Good attitude to HSEC including hazard reporting, investigations and field interactions<\/li>
      • A strong desire to innovate, problem solve and approach work with new ideas<\/li>
      • Analytical mindset with previous exposure to cost benefit\/analysis and optimisation studies<\/li>
      • Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing<\/li>
      • Good report writing and effective communication skills<\/li>
      • Previous experience in open pit (preferably Hard Rock) mining<\/li>
      • Tertiary qualifications in a mining industry related discipline or equivalent operational experience<\/li>
      • Intermediate level for Vulcan and ARC-GIS software<\/li>
      • Intermediate level for MS Office products including MS Excel, MS Word, Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps<\/li>
      • Exposure to CAT MineStar Terrain System<\/li>
      • Programming, especially python, C\/C++ and VBA<\/li>
      • Valid manual C Class Licence<\/li><\/ul>
