Job Description:

The Role:
- Assist the North Surgical Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) in ensuring a safe and secure environment within surgical wards.
- Assist in maintaining a secure working environment by supporting nursing staff in managing patients with behaviours of concern, delirium, high falls risk, self-harm or cognitive decline.
- Respond to aggressive incidents under the direction of the clinical team.
- Provide manual handling assistance with patient care requirements, when and as directed.
- Assist the NUM and Nursing team management in the maintenance and management of surgical ward equipment.

The hospital/site/area/team:
- We care for a range of surgical specialties including Orthopaedic, Plastic & Reconstructive, Gynaecological, General, Colorectal, Breast, and Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery & Urology.
- Staff within the surgical wards undertake a multidisciplinary approach to health care that puts the needs of our patients and their families first through communication and collaboration to work towards a safe discharge from hospital.
- We provide a supportive environment for learners and place a heavy focus on teamwork within the group in order to meet the needs of our busy surgical areas.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time and part time, shift work, position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 22 May 2022 until 30 June 2025
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $55,407 - $57,805 per annum (pro rata) + 10% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019
