Fortescue is now consistently producing 175-180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead as it diversifies from a pure play iron ore producer to a green renewables and resources company.
The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2022.
Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.
Position Title: Maintenance Services Supervisor – Near Mine Services
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D6R Days only
Summary of role
We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small multidisciplinary team of mechanical fitters, electricians, and operators to operate and maintain near mine services at Iron Bridge, our new magnetite mine.
Reporting to the Maintenance Services Superintendent for Water, the scope of responsibility includes operation and maintenance of a borefield for raw water supply consisting of HDPE piping, turkey’s nest, pumps, valves and gensets. In addition, this role will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the tailings deposition spigots and the decant return water system from the tailings settling facility to the OPF.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership through daily field interactions and modeling positive safety behaviours with the team (leading by example)
- Preparation and execution of the weekly team plan in SAP adhering to best practices of work management and achieving weekly KPIs
- Day to day work management of the team including work allocation & prioritization of both planned and unplanned work plus verification of workmanship
- Optimization of the borefield system to maximise efficiency and reliability.
- Scoping of future work including estimation of resourcing requirements, liaising with suppliers and OEMs for order of necessary parts and materials
- Lead engagement and collaboration between the department and other stakeholders such as Mining, Projects, contractors, and supply vendors.
- Provide technical guidance for fault finding of water supply equipment such as pumps and gensets.
- Operation of the TSF deposition spigots & decant system in line with compliance and operational requirements
- Monitoring and inspection of key equipment and infrastructure to site standards, procedures and regulatory requirements including daily TSF inspections
- Development and management of the OPEX budget
- Development and input into the CAPEX budget
- Building a great team culture through living the FMG values, setting expectations and providing accountability
Qualifications and skills required:
- Minimum 3 years working in the mining industry and minimum 5 years in a frontline management role
- Trade qualification background preferred but not essential eg. diesel mechanic, electrician etc
- Highly experienced with operation and maintenance of water supply mining equipment including pumps, pipelines, valves and gensets.
- High level of proficiency in SAP
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office eg. Excel, Word, Outlook
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations such as MSIR
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience with leading and facilitating incident investigations
- Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing teams
