Job Description:

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist – Rehabilitation vacancies.

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.

Salary

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

Classification

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 in accordance with the Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2017

  • Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.

Period of Employment

Fixed term full-time and part-time day work (with on-call) working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing in July 2022 for a period of 12 months.

Rehabilitation Unit, Royal Hobart Hospital

Duties

Provide a high-quality service under the direction of the Head of Department to patients of the RHH and Repatriation Centre by:

  • Providing appropriate clinical care to patients/clients.
  • Attending inpatients rounds and consulting clinics as scheduled.
  • Contributing to an after-hours on-call services in accordance with a roster.

Demonstrate a commitment to continuous services improvement by:

  • Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Attending and participating in clinical and departmental meetings.
  • Participating in departmental peer review and audit activities.
  • Provide appropriate support, direction and training to trainee medical officers, nurses, and medical students

Essential Requirements

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check
