Resource Definition Earthworks Coordinator
Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth
An opportunity exists for an Earthworks Coordinator to join the Solomon Resource Definition team to assist in the safe execution of drill programs.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Adhere to Fortescue’s vision, values and culture to inspire the earthworks team
- Ensure earthworks operators are operating safely and efficiently by adhering to the FMG HSE standards and policies
- Preserve indigenous cultural and heritage sites, the environment by maintaining high standards of awareness within the team and by ensuring compliance to the protective systems and processes in place
- Fulfill the responsibilities of the Section 44 Appointed Persons
- Conduct field interactions with all earthmoving personnel and ensure the continuous identification/ rectification of hazards in the workplace
- Daily drill pad validations and signoffs to ensure construction as per the scope and required specifications
- Regular reviews of FMG and Contractor earthmoving procedures with the support of the Earthwork Specialists team
- Support and coordinate the safe execution of earthworks programs to provide pads and tracks to the RC, Diamond and Water Well drilling teams
- Maximise efficiency amongst the clearing fleet without compromising safety
- Daily validation of the plods and review of monthly earthworks invoices and provide approvals to the cost controllers
Qualifications and skills required:
- Previous supervision of earthmoving plant and equipment experience
- Previous experience working in steep terrain in the Pilbara highly regarded
- Extensive knowledge of earthmoving equipment, mechanical understanding and drill pad design in steep terrain
- Knowledge and competence in GIS, creating custom QGIS packages for clearing purposes (GPS Packages on Trimble units)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective project management, planning and time management skills
- Understanding of scheduling/time usage models highly regarded
- Knowledge and competence in GIS, QGIS packages and the use of GPS/Trimble units highly regarded
- Strong desire and drive for continuous improvement
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be eligible to work in Australia
- Class C manual WA driver’s licence
- 4WD - trained and certified
- Current first aid certificate
