Senior Resource Definition Geologist <\/strong><\/p>

Work Location:<\/strong> Eliwana - Fortescue\u2019s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.<\/p>

Roster:<\/strong> 8d\/6R FIFO ex. Perth<\/p>

An opportunity currently exists to join Eliwana Resource Definition team as Senior Geologist Drilling. This role requires a highly process driven person, with strong understanding of Fortescue and procedures with an aim to develop a robust framework for various teams to execute their specific scopes within.<\/p>

Reporting to the Eliwana Resource Definition Superintendent, the Senior Geologists will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of various strategic planning projects at Eliwana. <\/p>

Key accountabilities:<\/strong><\/p>

• Adhere to Fortescue\u2019s vision and values to the drilling and earthwork teams with the support of the superintendent<\/li>
• Maintain a strong field presence to maintain the visible leadership within a team. Promoting safe work practices from contractors and FMG staff with the support of the drill safety and the HSES teams<\/li>
• Develop the drilling schedules to provide timely data for model generation required by the different planning teams (2YP, 5YP and LOM)<\/li>
• Plan, manage and execute resource definition drilling and earthwork activities<\/li>
• Liaise with different stakeholders (resource estimation, geometallurgy, dewatering, mine planning teams etc., site and Perth based) to ensure works are completed as efficiently as possible<\/li>
• Coordinate the activities in carrying out the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and ensure that they are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets<\/li>
• Supervise logging and sampling of RC programs, with the support of project geologists<\/li>
• Validation of data, reports and geological models, with the support of project geologists<\/li>
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the department by identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement<\/li>
• Support the superintendent in meeting company objectives<\/li><\/ul>

  Qualifications and skills required:<\/strong><\/p>

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology<\/li>
  • Proven experience in a leadership position<\/li>
  • Experience in iron ore required. Additional experience in different commodities and industries highly regarded<\/li>
  • Solid understanding of QAQC processes and RC drilling<\/li>
  • Solid understanding of the risks associated to earthwork and drilling activities in remote areas of the Pilbara<\/li>
  • Skilled in Vulcan, ArcGIS and acQuire<\/li>
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills<\/li>
  • Experience with contractor management and project execution<\/li>
  • Class C manual WA driver\u2019s licence <\/li><\/ul>
