Job Description: | The primary responsibility of the Biological Scientist I is to perform laboratory procedures, conducting studies aimed at understanding disease pathogenesis and discovery of novel therapies for for lysosomal storage diseases. This includes characterization of animal models, exploring candidate signaling pathways and disease biomarkers, and validation of candidate compounds from high-throughput screens (by using primary cells from different patients and animal models). Because of the nature of this work, schedule flexibility, ability to work independently, self-motivation and self-reliance are expected. Works under general supervision of Genetic Research faculty. This position is located at the UF Main Campus in Gainesville but funded by UF-COM, Jacksonville.

Expected Salary: | $16.28 to $19.16 per hour depending on education and experience per hour depending on education and experience. |
Minimum Requirements: | Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field. |
