Base Location: Poole, Portsmouth or New Forest

Salary:£51,125 to £62,405 + car allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent, Full Time 37 hrs per week | Flexible First options available

Our Role

To ensure the continued success of the business, we have an exciting opportunity for a Major Projects Field Unit Engineer. Working across the South East and Wessex regions the team specialises in the design and construction of electrical projects on the 132kv, 33kv and 11kv distribution networks. There are several projects underway to replace and upgrade the electricity network including sub-stations, over-head lines and underground cables. This investment exceeds £70m per annum and you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering these.

Core Duties

The role will incorporate working on electrical networks and plant up to and including 132kV and will include operational SAP and safety duties as required.

Acting as the local liaison on behalf of the business to ensure plant and apparatus are installed and maintained in accordance with SSEN standards.

There will be component of project delivery/management including the use of reporting systems.

Being involved in large capital delivery projects and connections projects from conception to completion.

Responding to the needs of the business as required.

What do I need?

To be successful in the role, you will ideally be qualified to at least HNC level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally Electrical.

SAP qualification at 132kv would be highly advantageous (or someone who is working towards this); as would a qualification in safety.  

Given the technical nature of the role, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar role, performing similar duties and responsibilities as identified above.  It is also important that you will have an eye on long term development in order to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.

You must be self-disciplined with excellent organisational skills, capable of working on your own initiative and to deadlines within a high-pressure environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, being comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external are essential.
