Manufacturing Test Engineering Lead
Work Location: Gladstone, Queensland
FFI is transforming regional Australia through green industry manufacturing with a Global Green Energy Manufacturing Centre (GEM) in Gladstone, Queensland. Stage one of the six-stage project will establish Australia’s first multi-gigawatt-scale electrolyser factory – a world-class facility with an initial capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) per annum – more than doubling current global production.
Fortescue plans to establish its first Vocational Training and Employment centre (VTEC) in Queensland at GEM, in addition to Trade Up and Leadership and Excellence programs, with a strong focus on giving a hand up to Traditional Custodians.
The Manufacturing Test Engineering Lead will coordinate and conduct testing with the Test Engineering team, checking activities during the manufacturing process.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Perform tests or checks by following procedures and instructions defined in manuals and test scripts
- Ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with FFI / FMG policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments
- Manage and report on test process performance and equipment OEE
- The job may also include physical pre-testing activities for newly developed products to assure the quality of the product or manufacturing processes
- Verify and approve all test results for accuracy and compliance
- Key responsibility to ensure Test process, equipment and instruments are maintained and always within performance requirement to achieve test result compliance
- Develop, update and continually improve test process, documentation and training
- Assists the team in performing all checks in the process for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- The job will include performing testing apparatus hook ups, pre-start and pre-test verification
- Lead all diagnosis and root cause analysis in the event of a product testing failure, test equipment breakdown
- Lead / monitor test equipment maintenance and overall equipment and test efficiency
- Conducts shop floor operations in compliance with health & safety guidelines and reports any non-compliance
- Coordinate activities of the Quality team and implement testing functions in day-to-day operations.
- Providing training and coaching to create a dynamic and driven team that is sustainably staffed, developed and directed to support the testing activities within the business
Qualifications and skills required:
- Degree qualified with at least 3 years’ experience in process, electrical, mechanical or mechatronics
- Highly skilled worker with experience across process, electrical engineering and electrical components testing
- Experience in Electrical Components Testing
- Committed to workplace health and safety
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Skilled in problem solving rapidly
