Principal Development Engineer - Electrolysers
Work Location: Perth
Reporting to the Manufacturing Development Lead, the Principal Development Engineer will be the subject matter expert responsible for mentoring the development of prototype Electrolysers and other green energy systems.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Leading conceptual design through to prototype construction and testing
- Guiding and performing detailed engineering of components and assemblies
- Leading materials selections for various applications
- Conducting FMEA studies and Root Cause Analysis as well as ensuring the design process adheres to ISO9001
- Managing multiple projects as the lead engineer
- Liaising with other disciplines to ensure product performance
- Align with Fortescue values and safety culture
Qualifications and skills required:
- Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering Qualification. Post graduate studies will be highly regarded
- Greater than 10 years’ experience in an active engineering design or product development role, or in an advanced manufacturing engineering role
- Experience in leading teams or guiding other engineering activities
- Research & Development experience, including developing products from first principles through to detail design development and manufacturing
- High level of experience performing FEA, CFD, and structural calculations to verify designs
- Reasonable working knowledge of chemistry and electrolysis
- An understanding of formal product development and lifecycle improvement
- Team oriented and highly self-motivated starter
- Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and logistics skills
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office products including project and vision
