Job Description:
Fortescue is now consistently producing 175-180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead as it diversifies from a pure play iron ore producer to a green renewables and resources company.
The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2022.
Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.
Iron Bridge represents Fortesuce's latest operation culminating in a new OPF/CHF, new technologies and camp facilities.
JOB TITLE – Senior Systems Engineer
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: Perth based initially to progress to an 4:3 in the future
The Senior Systems Engineer is a key position within the Process Control Systems and Management and support groups. The PCS groups are responsible for the asset management of SCADA, PLCs, Programming Software, RTUs, field telemetry networks and plant instrumentation networks.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Process Control, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering high level sustainable solutions that contribute to the optimal life of the process control system assets whilst minimising the operational risks.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead enhancement projects to improve the reliability of the control systems, remove defects and add new capability to the existing systems
- Provide technical leadership and support to the site process control team
- Maintain and improve system availability and uptime
- Participate in the investigation for operation delays, RCA or as required by operation and maintenance in the control systems
- Maintain the PCS network infrastructure consisting of hardware and software that enables process control, monitoring and communication between users and applications
- Assist with projects that involve control system and operational technology such as integration of new instrumentation or equipment, strengthen and improve the existing process control environment and network security
- Collaborate with other teams to achieve business goals
- Maintaining excellent culture within the team and other departments
Qualifications and skills required:
- Current Drivers Licence (C Class)
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic/Computer Engineering Degree
- Methodical and thorough fault-finding skills
- Able to work in highly technical and challenging environment
Required Experience
- Ideally 10 years of experience in similar positions
- Experience with programming and configuration of GE/Emerson control systems software and hardware (GE Machine Edition/PPS, RX3i, Cimplicity SCADA, Proficy Historian, Proficy Change Management)
- Experience with software and hardware from other vendors (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Kepware, PAS, Atlassian, Genetec)
- Experience with layer 2 networking, Moxa industrial network switches and MXview
- Experience with Industrial communication protocol (Profinet, Profibus, EGD, Modbus)
- Experience with VSD drives (ABB and Siemens)
- Experience with RDBMS (MSSQL) and reporting systems (SSRS)
- Experience with data analytics tools (Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, SEEQ)
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (C#, VB.NET, SQL)
- Experience with Microsoft server operating system
- Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and active directory
- Experience with layer 3 networking and firewall
- Understand good cybersecurity practices
