As an Extension Agent and County Extension Director (CED), you will work jointly for UF/IFAS Extension and Citrus County. The academic program focus of this Extension Agent position is Environmental Horticulture, with Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) program responsibility. As the Agent, you will devote about 60% of your time towards leading county horticulture education and volunteer development programs. As the CED, you will spend about 30% of your time leading the total Citrus County extension program. This position also includes a 10% effort to support the county 4-H Youth Development program in your area of expertise. You will demonstrate excellent customer service and you will respond to client needs in a timely and professional manner. This role provides the opportunity to make a positive impact in the Citrus County community as you work with extension faculty, staff and stakeholders. What you will do as County Extension Director:

Further information: Employment is contingent on the results of a national background screening and drug screening results required by Citrus County. Citrus County is centrally located along the central west coast of Florida bordering Hernando County on the south and Levy and Marion Counties to the north. The County is home to 153,843 (2020 census) residents. The population has grown by nearly 9% since the last census. The county seat is in Inverness along the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes. The other major city, Crystal River, was built along the coast and has easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and other local waterways. The county offers easy access to the Veteran’s Expressway, I-75, and the Florida Turnpike. Citrus County Extension is located at 3650 E. Sovereign Path, Lecanto FL. Extension is a partnership between state, federal, and county governments to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public. As such, all partners are involved in the supervision of the office and contribute to the salary and support resources. The primary goal of Extension is to disseminate the latest knowledge and applicable technologies in agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences in order to sustain and enhance the quality of human life. The UF/IFAS mission is accomplished through Extension faculty members, scientists, educators, administrative staff, and volunteers working cohesively throughout Florida’s 67 counties.
