Job Description:

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist – Nuclear Medicine vacancy.

In accordance with hospital policies, procedures and statutory regulations, the Staff Specialist - Nuclear Medicine will:

  • Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to Nuclear Medicine patients.
  • Actively pursue improved outcomes for Nuclear Medicine patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Nuclear Medicine.

Salary

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

Classification

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 in accordance with the Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019

  • Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.

Period of Employment

Permanent, part-time day work (with on-call), working 38 hours per fortnight commencing asap. Hours will be discussed with the successful applicant.

Location

Nuclear Medicine, Royal Hobart Hospital

Duties

  1. Provides clinical services incorporating principles of best practice.
  2. Provides services in the activities of the Department as agreed with the Department Director and Staff Specialists.
  3. Establishes and oversees activities to review resource utilisation and develop appropriate strategies, plans and procedures for their efficient and effective use.
  4. Encourages and facilitates teaching and research appropriate to the role of the Department.

Essential Requirements

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Eligible for registration as a Specialist in Nuclear Medicine
